What I liked

The rotational aspect of the program (demand planning, demand forecasting, and merchant analyst) was extremely beneficial and allowed me to learn about three career opportunities instead of one. I also was able to network with various individuals across the company throughout the summer, and learn more about their career progression.

What I wish was different

I wouldn't change anything about this experience!

Advice

I would advise individuals applying for or accepting this role to take advantage of your free time. Whether it be asking your manager if there is anything you can help with, or setting up meetings with someone in a career that interests you, try to gain as much knowledge and experience from this internship as possible.

The job was amazing. I loved working with the new technology and seeing it progress every month. Helping people find perfect solutions was an amazing feeling.

I was over worked constantly. I am taking 6 classes right now and was expected to work 35+ hours per week as a part time employee.

Advice

It is an awesome job, but be weary of the long hours.

Great way to learn about technology in the market, as well as basic customer service skills.

What I wish was different

The work atmosphere was supposed to be centered around helping the customer, but I regularly felt the management would forget this service oriented goal and rail on employees to increase sales numbers.

Advice

Remember why you do any job. You are providing a service or good to a customer to better their lives. While profits are important, if you remember why you are doing something and who you are helping then it will lead to those improved sales, but will not work vice versa.

Learning how to do something new every day- facing new challenges kept me on my toes so I was never doing the exact same thing.

I wish I could have had more experience on the salesfloor- unfortunately there weren't any positions open when I initially applied.

Advice

I would advise anyone in a field of customer service to not take customer frustrations to heart- we all get flustered as consumers, and that's easy to forget. Keeping your cool and being able to laugh things off is crucial.
