It's a good job with friendly people, good for building social and customer service skills. It is a regular retail position, but one where it is easy to bond with others over the product (books, movies, music).
What I wish was different
I have worked there for two years, and a higher salary would be nice, but it is decent for a retail position.
Advice
If you are shy and have nerdy interests, B&N is a fantastic place to work and can help you to put yourself out there more.

What I liked
I enjoyed helping people find what they needed.
I enjoyed working with others and keeping myself busy.
What I wish was different
I believe that the company is disorganized all though they have gotten a lot better from the summer before.
Advice
I think that it is important to keep yourself current as best you can while attending college, if you can't work during the semester take a summer job or internship in your field of study so that when you do enter the business world you will be ready.

What I liked
I loved the atmosphere; I loved talking to customers about books we both loved, and I enjoyed working with people just as nerdy as me. I was comfortable with all my managers, and felt like I could calmly and safely escalate any problems or comments in a positive, timely manner.
What I wish was different
I wish we had had enough employees such that I could get time off for studying and homework.
Advice
Don’t be afraid to ask questions; keep your weekends clear, and always educate yourself on new books!

Advice
Everyone should work in food service and retail at least once before they try and get a "real job". It humbles you and reminds you how to treat people.
