I have been a firefighter for West Chester Fire Department since my freshman year at WCU. When I first came to West Chester I was looking for something new to fill my time and meet new people. Joining the fire department has been one of the best decisions of my college career. Not only is it an amazing way to give back to the community, but it is a great way to learn lifelong skills and make friends that will last even longer.

Advice
The number one piece of advise I can give to someone who is unsure about joining the fire department is NO experience is necessary and there is NO time requirements you must meet! No one that joins the fire department is expected to have the skills or knowledge necessary, it will all be taught to you! Second you can volunteer around your free time! I will end with, it never hurts to try! All you have to do it come down to the fire house one night and I'm sure you will be hooked. But if not, that's okay! There is never any pressure to say its not for you.
