Systems Engineering Intern

October 2021 - February 2022 • Mountain View, CA

What I liked

I really liked the exposure that I got to the product and the technology.

What I wish was different

There was a lot of red tape, made it hard to accomplish more.

Advice

Do as much as you can in the amount of time that you are given. Try to ride in the car if you can!

Systems Engineer Intern

June - September 2019 • Mountain View, CA

What I liked

Pretty much everything! The perks were great, pay was great, and I felt like my work was actually helping the company progress. I felt like my contributions were meaningful, and my team put a lot of trust in me. I wasn’t babied, but I was also given a good amount of guidance.

What I wish was different

This more of a criticism of myself. I wish I’d made more effort to grab coffee/lunch with more employees. I stuck mostly with the other interns. When I converted to full time, most of them left, and I was left with very few people that I’d connected with outside of work.

Advice

It’s okay if you feel like you don’t know anything when you start an internship. Just ask a ton of questions even if they seem like dumb questions. I recently overheard at work, “it’s better to sound dumb than to stay dumb”.
