Certified Pharmacy Technician

January 2019 • El Dorado Hills, CA

What I liked

The fast pace environment gave me the skills to balance projects and hone my communication skills. I gained an encompassing understanding of the healthcare industry from the unique perspective of the pharmacy. I loved working on a team and seeing myself make a difference in people's day.

What I wish was different

The expectations were ever increasing while hours and manpower were scarce. Working for a big corporation, it's easy to feel forgotten.

Advice

You have to be willing to work and step up to a challenge, that's when the experience was most fulfilling. There was a definite learning curve but the longer you work the easier the skills come.

Certified Senior Pharmacy Technician

July - October 2020 • Medford, NY

What I liked

I really enjoyed helping people throughout this Covid-19 pandemic. I administered Covid tests to anyone who wanted to get tested. I feel as if I made an impact on the fight against Covid-19!

What I wish was different

The only thing that I wish was different is that I could still be there administering tests being on the frontline with other brave individuals.

Advice

The one piece of advice I’d share about this experience is to tell the ones you care about that you love them. I’ve seen many people pass way due to Covid-19 and it’s sad. A majority of those individuals died alone without their loved ones. Tell those that you care about that you love them please

Certified Pharmacy Technician

September 2019 • Arlington Heights, IL

What I liked

Great staff, great hours, work feels meaningful specifically for my position, room for job growth, work in the medical field, and good pay for the job description after certification.

What I wish was different

Nothing really, I still enjoy my job to this day and I look forward to going home and working with my coworkers again. They provide the flexibility to come back and work on long weekends and over breaks which is great for me being away at school.

Advice

It takes a bunch of brain power, a ton of patience, and energy to complete your shifts. If you don't feel like you can provide consistent energy, empathy, and enthusiasm for conversation with patients throughout the length of a shift then I would not suggest this job for you. This job can be stressful at times and very fast paced but it is one of the few jobs that I have found that is considered to be in the medical field that I can work before I get my college degree as well as where I can go home feeling satisfied that I am doing my part and helping peoples lives.
