If you are interested in government, this is a great internship to get your foot in the door. I learned a lot about the legislative process through hands-on training. I loved the fast-paced energy of Tallahassee, specifically, the Florida Capitol. The Legislative Scholars Internship will provide you with many opportunities unique to the experience. I highly recommend it!

What I liked
One thing I enjoyed about this internship was the entire government relations team, not only did they facilitate this whole experience for myself and the other scholars but they made a genuine effort to make sure we were well-equipped and had everything we needed before going to Tallahassee. The transition was seamless and much of my success as an intern can be accredited to them. Other than that the internship itself was amazing, I learned and did more within the Florida Legislature than I could have possibly imagined.

What I liked
Applying to this program was one of the best decisions of my college career. I am so grateful for the opportunities this program has given me, and for Alison, Fred, and Austin for making it possible! Having housing covered, an included stipend, and being able to visit the Governor's Mansion, FL Supreme Court, FSU Law, etc. were all amazing perks of being in this program.

What I liked
The ambience was truly unique. From being involved in the fast-pace and attending the committee meetings to attending events and getting to meet so many others from many other paths, it was a tremendous experience. Additionally, I genuinely could not have asked for a team of mentors than I was given, and I was fortunate enough to be embraced by those both in and out of the office.
What I wish was different
I wish it could have been longer, and that through UCF, somehow we could still be connected to the process as well.
Advice
Approach each day new and appreciate the moments and the small things so that you can learn the most and share positivity with others, as fortunately it went well for me. Also, don't be afraid to mess up, as it's understood by them due to you still being new to the process. Lastly, try to connect and go to the events as much as you can, as you'll miss them when you get back.
