UNMC Munroe-Meyer Institute

About UNMC Munroe-Meyer Institute

The integrated Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders is located within the Munroe-Meyer Institute. All five clinics in our department provide intensive early intervention services using applied behavior analysis (ABA), which is the only research-supported treatment for autism spectrum disorder. Trained therapists provide one-on-one services for toddlers with autism, teaching vital skills in the areas of communication, adaptive behavior, social interactions, and academics.

Ongoing supervision and education in ABA is provided by Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs). Behavioral therapists participate in a 40-hour training to sit for the exam to become a Registered Behavioral Therapist (RBT). Therapists must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, be ambulatory, and possess independent writing abilities.
