Applicant

January 2023 • Fayetteville, NC

What I liked

I Did NOT like that the recruiter reached out to me through handshake, stating that they read my profile and believe I can be a great candidate for the company and encouraged me to apply. I applied and then they send me an email stating "Thank you for your application to Education at Work. After reviewing your work and experience, we've made the decision to not move forward at this time." Why would you encouraged me to apply and then tell me I don't fit for the company?

What I wish was different

Do a better research when asking prospective candidates to apply. My resume is linked to my profile. You should not email people stating they are the perfect candidate when they are not. Do not waste your time or people's time. We are seriously looking for jobs.

Tech Support Agent

July - September 2021 • Tempe, AZ

What I liked

I liked the work environment. Everyone was always chatting ad helping each other out. There was a great sense of togetherness.n

What I wish was different

I wish the pay was a little bit higher. Even with the tuition assistance, 12.15 an hour wasn't much for the complexity of the job.

Advice

I would say stay connected, ask questions, and take notes. A lot of the tech-related problems people have are similar so if you have a really tough problem but finally solve it, take really detailed notes so that you know what to do from now on. Also, don't be afraid to ask for help from your supervisors and others.

Xbox Support Agent

November 2021 - February 2022 • Tempe, AZ

What I liked

I like being able to help people who just wanted to play their games get back to gaming as soon as possible: whether that was simple troubleshooting (power cycle a console, reset NAT type, etc.), filing out a repair order or just help guide through something simple like a refund.

What I wish was different

Communication. I felt like there was a complete lack of communication to us as a worker (if you missed a day following overtime they remove the OT hours, bathroom breaks take away from breaks) not to mention the amount of in between times felt so stressful due to it being 30 seconds of finishing what you've done from the previous call, most of my training was useless as most wasn't applicable or i wasn't trained for. Not to mention no one communicated regarding the remaining $1,000 sign on bonus i had left (if you leave prior to the remaining amount so like me where i had 2 months left, they won't pay you that amount) which screwed me over a payment.

Advice

If you like being a punching bag for Microsoft/Education at work, by all means sign up.
